We expect health and social care providers to guarantee autistic people and people with a learning disability the choices, dignity, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. Right support, right care, right culture is the statutory guidance which supports CQC to make assessments and judgement about services providing support to people with a learning disability and/or autistic people. We considered this guidance as there were people using the service who have a learning disability and or who are autistic. The service met this guidance. We spoke with 7 staff members. This included support workers, managers and senior leaders. We got feedback from professionals that supported the people living at the service. People felt safe and were supported by staff who understood their individual needs. The provider demonstrated a consistently safe and well led service, with a strong culture of openness, learning and continuous improvement. Staff actively listened to concerns, embedded lessons learnt, and worked collaboratively with people, families and healthcare partners to ensure safe systems, effective transitions and person-centred risk management. Safeguarding practice was robust, and people were supported in ways that promoted independence, safety and dignity. The service maintained safe environments, acted promptly on risks, and ensured well-trained, competent staff were available to meet peoples individual needs, including those with complex health conditions. Medicines, infection control and recruitment processes were managed safely and effectively. Leadership was compassionate, inclusive and approachable, promoting transparency, equality and a shared vision rooted in human rights. Staff and relatives felt valued, heard and supported, with strong communication, a positive speaking up culture, and effective governance systems providing real time oversight and driving improvements.
