Avenues South East Services achieved an Outstanding rating across all five key questions at its June 2022 inspection, demonstrating exceptional person-centred support for autistic people and those with learning disabilities, including transformative outcomes in independence, health and reduction of restrictive practices. A single minor gap in MCA assessments at one setting was identified and immediately rectified by the provider.

minorConsent / capacity: “we found that one of the 22 settings under the registration, was missing some MCA assessments. This was due to a manager leaving the setting without completing a piece of work.”

Strengths

· Exceptional positive risk-taking enabling people formerly in institutional settings to live independently in the community, with dramatic reductions in restraint and antipsychotic medication use.
· Outstanding person-centred care with highly individualised support plans, bespoke communication strategies, and assistive technology tailored to each person's sensory and autism-related needs.
· Proactive and creative partnership working with NHS, ambulance services, learning disability nurses and specialist organisations to achieve superior health outcomes for autistic people.
· Exceptionally robust governance framework with high-quality audits, transparent action planning, and business continuity exercises shared across the organisation.
· Strong open culture championing diversity, staff wellbeing, whistleblowing, and continuous learning including proactive adoption of Oliver McGowan training before it became mandatory.
