Date of Assessment: 25 April to 9 May 2025. Alva Healthcare is a care at home service providing support to adults living in their own homes. This was the first assessment of the service. There had been no accidents or incidents reported, however, the provider had systems in place to analyse incidents and mitigate future risks. Staff received training to carry out their role well and felt supported by the registered manager. Risks associated with people’s care had been identified but not always managed to keep people safe. The provider could not always demonstrate people received their medicines as prescribed. People were involved in devising their care plans and staff included them in reviews of their care and support. Staff knew people well and supported people in line with their needs and preferences. The provider had a quality assurance framework, however; this could be improved to show lessons were learnt to improve the service. During the assessment we identified 2 breaches of legal regulation in relation to safe care and treatment and good governance. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
