Grayson Home Care was rated Good across all five key questions at its announced inspection in October 2018, maintaining the rating from its previous inspection in November 2015. The service demonstrated strong person-centred care, effective governance and a positive culture, with only a minor concern noted regarding occasional early or late call times.

: “One relative and one person who used the service felt that the covering of calls could be better. They said there were times when their calls were both early and late.”

Strengths

· People felt safe with staff and their needs were met safely, with consistent carer allocation prioritised for continuity.
· Safe medicines management in place with trained and competent staff and appropriate records.
· Effective infection prevention and control guidance followed, with staff having access to PPE.
· Safe recruitment practices including DBS checks, application forms, interviews and references.
· Accidents and incidents appropriately recorded with monthly analysis and corrective actions.

Grayson Homecare received a Good rating across all five key questions at its announced inspection on 4 November 2015, demonstrating strong safeguarding practice, person-centred care, and effective leadership. Minor gaps were noted in the recording of pre-employment DBS checks and the formal auditing of care plan reviews and satisfaction data.

minorGovernance: “Care plans were regularly and robustly reviewed, but there was no system in place to enable easy audit of this. Satisfaction... results were not collated to give an overview.”

Strengths

· Staff demonstrated a thorough understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and reporting channels.
· Effective call planning systems ensured calls were not missed and were delivered at people's preferred times.
· Medication administration records were completed correctly and medication was given at regular times.
· New staff received a thorough induction including external care school training and a minimum two-week shadowing period.
· Rolling programme of training kept staff skills up to date; staff could request additional training as needed.
