Date of Assessment: 03 March to 12 March 2026. BG Healthcare Cumbria Branch is a home care service, providing personal care to people in their own homes. There were 30 people using the service at the time of our inspection. This service was registered with us on 21 August 2023, and this is their first assessment. We assessed the quality statements from the key questions of safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. People received support which was safe and caring. Staff understood people’s preferences and routines and provided person centred support. People had care plans which were regularly reviewed with them and updated when people’s needs changed. People were able to make decisions about their care. Staff had undertaken training relevant to their role. Staff felt well supported by an approachable management team. The service operated safe recruitment procedures to ensure staff were suitable to work in the service. The service undertook regular governance checks. They were proactive in learning lessons from incidents and feedback from people and staff to continually improve the care people received. During the assessment we identified some areas where records could be strengthened, particularly in relation to medicines and information about people’s health needs. The service put actions in place to address these areas. There was no evidence that people had experienced harm because of these concerns. Overall, people received kind and respectful care from staff who knew them well. The service demonstrated a willingness to reflect on feedback and to take action where improvements were required.
