Date of assessment: 23 June 2025 to 14 July 2025. We gathered information from relatives, the registered manager, and care staff. We sought feedback from health and social care professionals and had feedback from 2 we contacted. This was the first assessment of this service since it was registered with CQC on 7 July 2023. Our overall rating for this service is requires improvement. We reviewed 34 quality statements. At this assessment we found a breach of regulation of the management of medicines, the safe recruitment of staff and good governance. Improvements were needed to the service’s quality assurance systems. We found shortfalls to information within people’s care plans including people’s end of life wishes, hobbies, interests, cultural and religious needs and if the person had any accessible information needs and diabetes care planning information. Recruitment procedures needed improving to ensure staff had suitable checks undertaken including references and a Disclosure and Barring Service check before the member of staff undertook training and an induction. Some staff had no contract confirming when they had started within the service. Improvements were also needed to the management of medicines. This included the documentation of topical creams and prescribed nutritional supplements. However, staff felt supported by the registered manager and they received training, supervision and regular meetings. Relatives said the support provided by staff was good and all felt able to raise any concerns with the registered manager if needed. People were supported by staff who gave them choice and control and who respected their wishes. There was a diverse workforce and the registered manager supported staff with their individual needs. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to some of the concerns found at this assessment.
