Date of Assessment: 7 August to 10 August 2025. Disability Action Yorkshire is a home care service. The location is registered for Assessment Service Group’s (ASG) supported living’ and ‘homecare.’ Under CQC’s new assessment methodology, ASG’s are reported on separately. At the time of the inspection the regulated activity was not being provided through the ASG of ‘homecare.’ This report is in respect of the supported living setting only. Supported living services are designed to enable individuals to live independently in their own homes. People using these services typically live in shared or individual accommodation and hold their own tenancy agreements, giving them legal rights and responsibilities as tenants. Individuals have the right to choose who provides their support, allowing them to select a provider that best meets their needs and preferences. This was the first assessment of this service. There was a positive culture of analysis and looking for lessons that could be learned or improvements that could be made. Staff understood their safeguarding responsibilities and were confident that any concerns they raised would be dealt with promptly and appropriately. Risks were well managed, and care plans and risk assessments were person-centered. All required recruitment checks were in place, and staff received the training and support they needed to carry out their roles effectively. Medicines were managed and administered safely. Care records included detailed information about people’s health conditions and how these might affect them. Managers provided staff with additional training about people’s health conditions, so that staff understood how this might impact the person. Staff spoke respectfully about the people they supported and spoke about people in a kind and caring way. A staff member told us, “I love my job. We help people. If people are happy; it makes me happy.” People’s personal, cultural, social and religious needs were understood and respected. Staff told us they enjoyed working for the provider and that there was a very good culture and supportive teamwork. A staff member said, “We work well together; it’s about working as a team.” Staff received training in equality and diversity. There was a system in place for responding to any concerns or complaints. The provider and registered manager were very committed to providing responsive, personalised care and support. Staff we spoke with shared that commitment. A staff member told us, “I really enjoy my job. I enjoy coming to work. The staff are amazing, and the customers are brilliant.” The provider and managers had good oversight and knowledge of the service. There was a range of quality monitoring and auditing in place. Everyone we spoke with was very positive about the registered manager and the way the service was organised and run. A staff member said, “Managers are all nice. They are concerned about you; they check if you’re ok.”
