Sylviancare South Gloucester is a domiciliary care service registered to provide personal care to individuals living in their own homes. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. Personal care is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. At the time of the inspection the service supported 13 people with personal care. This is the first inspection of the service. Date of assessment: 3 March 2025 to 14 March 2025. We gathered information from people who use the service, relatives, the registered manager, the senior manager, the care co-ordinator and quality lead and care staff. We sought feedback from health and social care professionals although we had no response from those we contacted. We reviewed 34 quality statements. At this assessment we found a breach of good governance as improvements were needed to the service’s quality assurance systems. We found shortfalls to people’s care plans as guidance was needed for people’s individual needs such as diabetes, stoma and catheter care and moving and handling risk assessments. Improvements were also needed to how incidents, accidents and safeguarding concerns were logged and what actions were needed. Staff were recruited safely and staff received training, supervision and weekly support meetings. Staff were supported to undertake further development opportunities. People and relatives said the support provided by staff was good. All staff felt the management of the service was approachable, supportive and they could raise anything with them. People were supported by staff who gave them choice and control and who respected their wishes. There was a diverse workforce and the registered manager met with staff regularly so they could discuss any learning outcomes. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to some of the concerns found at this assessment.
