Caring for Thurrock, a domiciliary care agency serving approximately 70 people, received a Good rating across all five key questions at its first CQC inspection in February 2023. The service demonstrated strong person-centred care, safe staffing and recruitment practices, and effective governance, with only minor concerns noted around consistency of visit times following a recent organisational transformation.

: “One person told us, "There has been hiccups with the times they call." Another person said, "Sometimes they (Care staff) come to early or to late."”

Strengths

· People and relatives gave very positive feedback about care staff, describing them as kind, cheerful, respectful and going above and beyond.
· Person-centred care plans with detailed risk assessments tailored to individual needs, including specific gender preferences for care.
· Robust recruitment processes including DBS checks, references, proof of identification and right to work checks.
· Staff received comprehensive training including safeguarding, MCA, infection control, medication, end of life care, catheter and stoma care, and significant seven training.
· Medicines managed safely with dedicated medicine leads, regular audits, and competency checks for staff.
