· Staff demonstrated outstanding person-centred care, tailoring support to each individual's wishes, preferences, and communication needs including use of Makaton sign language.
· Robust medicines policy developed in partnership with an Islington Learning Disability Partnership pharmacist, with signed agreements and training in place for all relevant staff.
· Safe recruitment procedures with full background checks completed before any new staff worked with people.
· Staff received mandatory training, specialised training tailored to individual service users' needs, regular supervision, and annual appraisals.
· Strong compliance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005, with best interests meetings held and no assumptions made about individuals' decision-making capacity.
Centre 404 Domiciliary Care received a Good rating across all five key questions at its August 2015 announced inspection, with particular commendation for its award-winning end of life care, highly person-centred approach, and innovative methods of empowering people with learning disabilities to shape their own care and the service. No regulatory breaches or failure themes were identified, and feedback from people, relatives and health and social care professionals was overwhelmingly positive.
